We recently wrapped up the renovation of our century old house in East York with the help of Norseman. What a transformation the Norseman team has achieved! Among many things we would give kudos to the team, it boils down to the care they dedicated to our half a mil project (which presumably is not a high profit project for the company), the transparency in the costing and the effective communications. For context, we gutted the house and added extensions in the back to create open concept living / kitchen space and turn 2 bed + 1 bath to 3 bed + 2 bath on the second floor. David Wagner, our project manager, played a pivotal role during the 7-month constructions . He coordinated the quality work from all the trades and the timeline so efficiently so that we were able to move back to the house ahead of schedule. Let alone all the change management in between, which can easily go sideways when dealing with an old house requiring custom solutions here and there plus a tight budget. Kevin Potts, the president of the company, steers the project in such meaningful ways so that we felt thoroughly engaged for decision making with all the implications explained including the cost but not overwhelmed since we don't have any previous renovation experience. Last but not least, communications have been very efficient to create mutual trust, from the drawing stage till the hanging of our new house sign. Weekly touch points, daily refreshed builder trend app, email/text and call keep us updated on the progress and problem solving (it feels amazing to be able to sleep like a baby knowing the project is in good hands you trust). Their efforts paid off with the outcome of the project above and beyond our expectations! We are a happy and satisfied client of Norseman therefore highly recommend their service and expertise if you have the need.

We hired Norseman Construction to completely gut and renovate our house. It was the best decision we ever made! From the very start their team was dedicated to making our dream home a reality. They took care of every detail, including permits, design, and construction. Norseman’s in-house interior designer, Ghalib, was instrumental to conceptualizing our vision. His design changed the footprint and layout of the kitchen, making it much more functional. The project managers assigned to our renovation: Robert Hansen and Alison Carby, immediately put us at ease. They were professional, personable, and very knowledgeable. Robert and Alison proved to be the “dream team”! They guided us through the renovation process and made it stress free. Their dedication to our project was exemplary. Robert made sure that our vision was executed and on budget and Alison kept the project on schedule. Their construction knowledge proved to be invaluable, especially when renovating an 80 year old house. When faced with challenges, Alison was very proactive and tackled problems in a quick and timely fashion. The trades played an integral part of our renovation. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail surpassed all our expectations. The Norseman team treated our house like it was their own home. Top 5 reasons why I’m really happy that we chose Norseman for our home renovation. 1. They completed our job 1 month ahead of schedule! No, really, they did! Who says that these days? 2. They assigned us a dedicated PM. Mohammad was always available, providing updates, and thoughtful in his decision making. I felt he treated the home with care, as if it was his own. 3. They have a fantastic Interior Designer. Ghalib got the style we were going for, and was there to recommend on the things you’d expect like paint colour, flooring and light fixtures. But he was also there for important decisions like floor transitions, tile layout, and pot light placement. 4. Various neighbours commented how friendly, and tidy the Norseman crew was. 5. They have an app that gets updated throughout the week with progress, and pictures. We could see the progress and were not left wondering what work was completed and scheduled. Highly recommend! Norseman has been a great company to work with. They are staffed with a professional and knowledgeable team of project managers and construction specialists who were happy to assist with my home renovation. I was very pleased with their level of communication through regular weekly meetings and updates through the BuilderTrend platform. They were efficient with not only deadlines but also budgets, keeping the project on schedule while maintaining cost effectiveness. I had the pleasure of working with Ezad as my project manager. He was empathic to any issues that came up during construction and was enthusiastic to help solve them. He would promptly respond to any questions and concerns I had over email, text messages, and phone calls, including in the evenings and on the weekends. I am happy to have chosen Norseman to help me with my renovation and would highly recommend them.

Our multiple project reno with Norseman was completed about a month ago and we are beyond thrilled with the results! We hired them to completely renovate our kitchen, 2 bathrooms, build a new elevated back deck, and enclose our front porch and incorporate it into our indoor living space. The entire team of Norseman staff and trades people were fantastic from beginning to end! Always on time, always available to answer questions, respectful of our budget and high quality work. Our project manager, David Wagner, stepped in half way through our reno, as our previous PM had to leave for personal reasons. David took over seamlessly, and with such professionalism. He knew every aspect of our projects and was able to direct all the trades without interruption. He was diligent in checking on our house daily and making sure everything was running smoothly. He always answered all of our messages quickly, enthusiastically, and in detail. His many years of experience was obvious and was so appreciated! A special shout out also goes to Kevin Potts (Vice-President), who was also at our weekly meetings. Always reassuring and kept everything on track. Our project was finished in the EXACT timeframe that was promised! We are absolutely in love with our beautiful new custom kitchen, new designer bathrooms, new elevated back deck, and new front room (previously the front porch)! Thank you David, Kevin and all of the Norseman team for making our old house into our new dream home! We give them 5 stars all the way!

We hired Norseman to extend our home on both floors. Norseman was to do the extension to drywall/rough-in, and we would do all our own finishings. The original plan was being out of our home 3-4 months, most likely home in January of 2023. Norseman and our contractor went well above and beyond accomplishing all they promised and more. When our Project Manager stepped in at the start, he understood how important it was for us to be out of the house as little as possible, and possibly be home for Christmas. HE DELIVERED. Not only were we only out of the house for 6 weeks (of the originally planned 16), we were home for Christmas. They organized and scheduled everyone on time, and when a promise was made to complete parts of work by a specific time, they were done, and done well. Thank you Norseman and Robert. We couldn't be happier. PS. Rob is still checking in on us, making sure our deficiencies are taken care of as planned, helping us with some tips and hints on our DIY finishings. Our house is starting to look like home again.

Update on my original review below. We finished the renovation with Norseman and could not be happier with the result. Doing a renovation throughout COVID presented many challenges (supply chain, delays in permitting etc.), but I can honestly say Norseman was not one of them. They met with us weekly to review the project and every other day we would receive photos and updates via their cloud based project management tool (builder trend). Our project manager was Rob, who was great! Rob on several occasions went above and beyond to make sure our house was taken care of. Kevin was also great and even when we ran into bumps, they came with solutions not excuses. Overall, we would definitely recommend them and likely work with them again in the future. Previous review below: My husband and I have had a great experience working with Norseman. We are adding a back addition to our Scarborough bungalow and renovating the interior as well. The entire team from Kris, Kevin, Howard and Shahid are so easy to deal with. Shahid, who is the Norseman architect, has been phenomenal and very flexible. He worked hard to understand our needs and design a floor plan that works for our family. We have two young boys, one with special needs, and the design needed to work for our family. We've also had the pleasure to engage Norseman for interior design services and are so happy with the work. We can't wait for the finished product but wanted to share a positive review for the work done so far. Thank you Norseman!

I researched & interviewed several construction companies as I wanted to ensure a smooth process that was overseen by professional people & standards. I ultimately decided on Norseman because of the sales process with the initial person (Bryan) & then that they would have a handoff to a project manager for the job. I also wanted a company who would collaborate in bringing their expertise to the table. While we knew exactly what we wanted, the collaboration on how to best achieve things was key. This process turned out very well as the PM is your direct contact & is responsible for overall management of the project. I’m a PM in another industry & respect how Norseman's process worked so well. Also, the PM (Greg) was fantastic & exactly the resource we’d been hoping for. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the project, is easy to chat with, can answer questions quickly, keeps you informed, & helps move the project forward in any way he can. All the necessary tradesmen needed for each part of the reno were so talented, professional, & an absolute pleasure to have on the project (looking at you Steve & Artem). The bathroom reno was a complete success. And we're looking forward to our next project with them - no need to look further than Norseman.

We had already purchased our tile, bathtub, shower column, tub door, vanity/faucet, bathroom door and required a contractor to change the layout in our (very) small main bathroom. We received quotes from 3 separate companies. Norseman was the mid-range quote. Draft contract had to be revised, because wording in 2 different sections implied that we were paying more than the quote that was given to us. This was fixed by Norseman very quickly with no problems. Greg and Yuri were assigned to our project. The renovation went smoothly and quickly. After demolition was completed the scope of work had to be changed to include some insulation in an exterior wall, the quoted cost for the additional work was reasonable. We were required to buy some additional items after the renovation started and both Greg and Yuri were very specific and helpful with what needed to be purchased, so we were not wasting time or money with incorrect items. Final hand off had occurred on a Friday. Over the weekend we noticed a few small things missing. We informed Norseman on the following Monday, and the fixes were addressed by Wednesday. We are very happy with the end results. We will contact Norseman again for quotes on future renovations needs.
